David’s House is a home-away-from-home for families who have children (newborn up to age 18) who are receiving care at the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.

David’s House was designed specifically to look and feel as uninstitutional as possible and instead feels like a cozy house with short hallways, welcoming colors, and soft lighting. There are common areas where guests can socialize with other families, and there are quiet places in which to find peace.

David's House has:

• 15 bedrooms that can accommodate 1 – 5 people
• Nine bathrooms, two of which have wheelchair-accessible shower seats
• Full air-conditioning and wheelchair-accessbility
• Cots, port-a-cribs, bed rails, wheelchairs, and baby monitors
• Free laundry facilities on each floor
• Toiletries and hair dryers in bathrooms
• Four playrooms/TV rooms
• Children's books, toys, videos, and video games, board games and puzzles
• Two complete kitchens with food storage spaces for each guest room
• Breakfast food,and a food pantry available for families who need groceries. We also provide food for the kitchenettes in the family lounges at Pediatrics, the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, the Family Center, and the Intensive Care Nursery at DHMC. Families can prepare a light snack there instead of leaving their child’s bedside to go to David’s House or the DHMC cafeteria.

day-guests

While most of our guests use a room overnight, we also welcome day-guests.

Any caregiver of a child in treatment at the Medical Center that does not have an overnight room at David's House may use the house during the day as any other guest would. These guests can shower, do laundry, use the playground, relax with a cup of coffee - whatever they like.

Reservations are not necessary for such day-guests, but we appreciate advance notice of such visits and ask that such guests check-in with a photo ID.

Please note...

David's House serves families regardless of their race, creed, national origin, sexual orientation, or economic status, but it should be noted that because the house is often full, we cannot always accommodate an immediate need.

A donation of $20 per family per night is suggested, but no family is ever turned away due to their inability to contribute.
