Kitchens & Eating Areas...

David's House has a large country-style double kitchen. Several families can use it at the same time without interfering with one another.

The center kitchen has a U-shaped cooking island surrounded by a stand-up counter or food-bar. Across the aisle surrounding the "U" is a coffee area (under the clock) easily accessible without interference to anyone who is cooking or eating. Beyond the coffee area, but still easily accessible is a "galley kitchen" with a second stove, refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher and a storage pantry for bulk supplies. On the outside of the "U" there are individual storage cabinets for each of the 15 guest rooms, to provide space for guests' personal food supplies. Each room also has its own private bin in one of the refrigerators for personal food requiring refrigeration.

Two associated eating areas, each with its own bright, airy bay window, provide family-style seating for several families.

There is also a gazebo-porch that can be used for eating during good weather.

These areas encourage guests, volunteers
and staff to get
together and share their experiences and concerns.
