Accommodations are provided for families with children being treated through Childrens Hospital at Dartmouth. Families of children with certain chronic diseases (cancer, cystic fibrosis or spina bifida) are priority guests. The house has 15 comfortable bedrooms (one room per family) and eight bathrooms. It is a home-style atmosphere. There are no phones or televisions in the bedrooms. Bathrooms are shared between 2-3 bedrooms and laundry rooms are provided on each floor. There are two family rooms with televisions, VCRs and electronic games, as well as telephone areas on each floor. The living room is a great place to read a book by the fireplace or enjoy the sounds of the player piano. There is a double, fully equipped family kitchen for our guests to use--including refrigerator and cabinet space for preparing their own meals. Coffee, breakfast foods and general condiment needs are provided.
It is advisable to call as soon as possible to see if space is available. We cannot always accommodate an immediate need. A fee of $10 per family per night is suggested. Donations are always welcome.
David's House also accommodates day guests. Any parent who has a child in the Medical Center and is not staying overnight at David's House may use David's House to have a cup of coffee, relax, watch TV, take a shower, use the laundry, etc. Reservations are not necessary for a day guest, but we appreciate advance notice of such visits.
