Accommodations are provided for families with ill or injured children ages 18 and under who are being treated through Children's Hospital at Dartmouth. David's House serves families regardless of their race, creed, national origin, sexual orientation, or economic status. Families of children with cancer, cystic fibrosis or spina bifida are priority guests, but other families are accommodated to the best of our ability. It is advisable to call as soon as possible to see if space is available, as we often have waiting lists. Unfortunately, we cannot always accommodate an immediate need.
David's House is designed and appointed for families, comfort and convenience. There are common areas where families can socialize if they wish to, and quiet places where they can be alone. Read what former guests have to say about us.
Our guest facilities include:
- 15 bedrooms which can accommodate 1 – 5 people
- Nine bathrooms, two of which have handicapped accessible shower seats
- House is fully air conditioned and fully handicapped accessible
- Cots, port-a-cribs, bed rails, wheelchairs, and baby monitors
- Free laundry facilities on each floor
- Toiletries and hair dryers in bathrooms
- Four playrooms/TV rooms, and a teen room
- Children's books, toys, videos, and video games, board games and puzzles
- Two complete kitchens with food storage spaces for each guest room
- Breakfast food, and a food pantry available for families who need groceries. We also provide food for the kitchenettes in the family lounges at Pediatrics, the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, the Family Center, and the Intensive Care Nursery at DHMC. Families can prepare a light snack there instead of leaving their child’s bedside to go to David’s House or the DHMC cafeteria.

David's House also accommodates day guests. Any parent who has a child in the Medical Center and is not staying overnight at David's House may use David's House to have a cup of coffee, relax, watch TV, take a shower, use the laundry, etc. Reservations are not necessary for a day guest, but we appreciate advance notice of such visits.
A donation of $20 per family per night is suggested, and no family is ever turned away due to their inability to pay. Donations are always welcomed.
DAVID'S HOUSE is located on Mount Support Road on the campus of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. It is a pleasant half-mile walk from the Medical Center, with sidewalks and adequate lighting. The David's House parking area accommodates one car per family.
